Bank action debrief
Our small action outside Barclays in Hemel was short, simple and effective, attracting more of an audience on Bank Court than expected (with only one hostile). We delivered a letter to the manager and staff, used a large board with facts about the bank’s fossil fuel funding and anointed two Rebels with fake oil. L addressed the small crowd with the science. The six of us involved felt it went well and it has so far received a fair bit on online attention. S has sent a press release to the local paper. Several people tried to join the Facebook group as a result, not all of whom seem appropriate.
Repeat
We set a date, time and location to repeat this action in another town with local XR support, and talked about developing it.
Berkhamsted Town Council
The council’s welcome support of the CEE Bill made the local press. S has been in touch with the Town Clerk. We hope to play a part in the Big Green Week Sept 18th-25th and K suggested using it to advertise a talk a week or two afterwards. S to try to arrange a speaker for Heading for Extinction and book the Meeting House in Berko or Hemel, TBC.
Uprising Weekend
Most going from Berko or Hemel will get the 10:54 train on Sunday although some may have to be there earlier. We hope to see new faces.
Cake and Climate
We agreed to have a picnic as a social on Sunday July 11th at 3pm at Berkhamsted Castle, and to invite members individually.
