Recently XR Dacorum members:
- returned to HMP The Mount to drum, chant and call out love to George, a young Just Stop Oil prisoner there. We also left behind some rosemary for remembrance twisted into the wire fence.
- were at Windsor for Upgrade Democracy
- postponed our regular banner drop on Tring Park Bridge due to heavy rain (contact us if you would like to be there early one morning for the next one)
- took part in an action with XR Scientists and Defend Our Juries outside the Ministry of Justice
- taken part in a protest about political prisoners outside Southwark Crown Court
- protested outside Equinor’s London office with Christian Climate Action (Sue)
- attended a Media Tell the Truth Conference – because unless the media starts to do that, nothing will change.
We continue to meet on Zoom most Tuesday evenings at 6:30 and are open to ideas for local actions. Our most recent protest before George was moved to the prison in Bovingdon was outside Barclays in Hemel.
Active members are involved with the Eco Hub, Berko’s Climate Cafe and the Tring Eco Library as well as national protests like Fossil Free London’s protest against the expansion of City Airport early in September. And we write to prisoners of conscience, of which there are currently nearly 40. Next up, Rewild the Church with Wild Card.
If you are shocked and distressed by the destructive impact of climate breakdown, and fear for life, abhor the media and judicial response to nonviolent direct action, please get in touch.
