This was a short meeting in which we wrapped up plans for an action.
We celebrated the decision by Berkhamsted Town Council on 14th to back the CEE Bill! They are drafting a letter to Gagan Mohindra. We have not had official notification yet, however. S suggested that the Council inform Holly Patel at the Gazette.
We debriefed on Sunday’s picnic and banner drop by and on Tring Park bridge, which was attended by 9 people in all, and at one point by 7 police officers! (Sue had a call before the event.) We collected a few more signatures taking the petition to Gagan up to 315.
We talked about the Big Green Week Sept 18-25 which is a national initiative. L has been talking to a councillor who will report back following a meeting this week. We hope there might be a Q and A session on the CEE Bill, and that the theme will be climate, ecology and SOCIAL justice, involving other local groups like Dacorum Against Racism, the Interfaith Network, Sunnyside, etc.
G is providing covered boards for messaging for June 27th national action: Free the Press.
The St Albans trial (2) continues… The featured image is from the same trial a few weeks back when the temperature was rather different, and shows the 6 defendants from trial 2 plus some local supporters who are defendants in trial 6, inc two of ours.
We will meet again next Tuesday at 6:30.
